Macleod Trail Plastic Surgery

Nonsurgical

Nonsurgical cosmetic treatments have become incredibly popular in Calgary — particularly injectables such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, JUVÉDERM®, and BELKYRA®. At Macleod Trail Plastic Surgery, we have a variety of options for women and men who want to counteract the effects of facial aging and enhance facial features. When administered by our experienced specialists, these treatments produce remarkable results, allowing patients to look naturally younger without surgery, or in some cases, enhancing the results of surgical procedures.

Treatment Options

JUVÉDERM® Fillers

This family of soft tissue fillers offers options for facial rejuvenation, lip enhancement, and more. Treatments are quick, results are instant, and no downtime is needed. Learn more.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

This wrinkle-smoothing neuromodulator causes lines formed by the repeated contractions of facial muscles to gradually fade away, leaving a naturally rejuvenated look. Learn more.

BELKYRA®

Submental fullness, a condition commonly known as a double chin, can affect men and women alike, regardless of age or level of physical fitness. For some patients, liposuction can help reduce unwanted fat beneath the chin, but BELKYRA is an effective choice for patients who may wish to avoid surgery.

Its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, already exists within our bodies as an aid to digestion, dissolving fat in the foods we eat. When administered to unwanted fat beneath the chin, BELKYRA works in a similar way, breaking down fat cells gradually to create an attractive profile. BELKYRA often requires several treatments to be fully effective; its results can be long lasting.

Fat Transfer

Autologous fat transfer — taking your own fat from one area of the body and injecting it in another area — is an increasingly popular facial rejuvenation option. Fat is removed using liposuction, and then purified before it is re-injected. Patients often choose this filler option because it is natural and long lasting.

Topical Facial Products

The key to youthful, healthy looking skin is a comprehensive skin care routine based on your specific skin profile and needs. Whether you have fine lines, dry skin or a dull complexion, we can help you achieve beautiful, healthy and glowing skin.

Macleod Trail Plastic Surgery offers a complimentary skin analysis with our skin care specialist Vanessa. During this visit, Vanessa will identify your unique skin profile and prescribe products and a daily routine to help correct past damage and protect your skin from future damage. The result is healthy, evenly toned skin that is properly hydrated and has a natural glow.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect from a treatment session?

A treatment session with us will last about an hour. We will begin by preparing your treatment areas and marking the places were injections will produce the best results. If you choose to have a topical anesthetic, we will also apply that before proceeding.

The injections themselves will take about 20 minutes to perform. Once complete, we ask that you sit for a few minutes, and then you are free to go.

When is surgery a better option?

With neuromodulators (e.g., BOTOX) and dermal fillers, you can smooth out wrinkles on various parts of the face and add volume. Results of a single treatment may last for several months, but injectables are temporary and they don't remove excess, sagging skin. For example, drooping skin above or beneath the eyes cannot be treated effectively with injectables. Although neuromodulators can slightly elevate the brows, they cannot truly lift a heavy, sagging brow. Additionally, if a patient wants a long-lasting increase in volume, such as the cheeks or chin, facial implants can be the best form of enhancement. Your surgeon will be happy to go over all of your options, both surgical and nonsurgical.

Can I combine injectables and fillers in a single treatment?

Yes, it's possible to have a combination of injectables and fillers. Many of our patients have BOTOX® Cosmetic and a dermal filler during the same treatment session, or choose to combine dermal fillers with BELKYRA™.

How much will a treatment session cost?

The price of a treatment session will vary from patient to patient based on several factors, including the injectable(s) or filler(s) used and the number of vials injected. We aim to be transparent on the cost of a treatment session, and we will be sure to give you a detailed price quote during your initial consultation.

Can I use injectables or fillers for areas other than the face?

Yes. Some products have indications beyond the face. RADIESSE, for example, can be used to add volume to a patient's hands. BOTOX has other indications, too. If you are considering injectables or fillers for areas other than your face, please be sure to mention it when you request a consultation with us, because it will change the conversation a bit.

If you'd like to find out how we can enhance your look with nonsurgical treatments, request a consultation online to meet with one of our surgeons and discuss your options. Or call our office at (403) 452-7953 to schedule an appointment.
